Bridge Painting & Protective Coatings
SYGMA provides complete protective coating systems for steel bridges and infrastructure. Our work encompasses surface preparation, primer application, intermediate coats, and topcoat systems specified by owners and engineers. We work with zinc-rich primers, epoxy intermediates, and polyurethane topcoats, and are experienced with both new construction and full rehabilitation projects. Every coating system is applied to manufacturer specifications and inspected throughout.
Surface Preparation & Abrasive Blasting
Proper surface preparation is the foundation of any durable coating system. SYGMA performs abrasive blasting to SSPC SP-6, SP-10, and SP-5 standards using a range of abrasive media suited to the substrate and project requirements. Our crews are trained in containment setup, dust suppression, and waste management to meet environmental permit conditions on bridge and industrial sites.
Lead-Based Coating Removal & Abatement
Many older bridges and industrial structures carry lead-based paint that must be removed safely before rehabilitation work can proceed. SYGMA performs lead abatement under full containment with continuous air monitoring, worker protection protocols, and waste characterization and disposal in compliance with EPA and OSHA requirements. We maintain the documentation required by project owners and regulatory agencies throughout every abatement project.
Containment & Temporary Shielding
Bridge work over water, roadways, and rail requires engineered containment systems to capture blast media, paint debris, and hazardous waste. SYGMA designs and installs containment systems that meet permit requirements and protect the surrounding environment. Our containment crews work closely with project engineers and environmental monitors to maintain compliance throughout the project.
Industrial Painting & Corrosion Protection
Beyond bridges, SYGMA provides protective coating services for industrial structures, pipelines, storage tanks, and facilities. Corrosion is the primary threat to the service life of steel infrastructure, and our coating systems are selected and applied to provide long-term protection in demanding environments. We work with owners, engineers, and general contractors to deliver coating systems that meet performance specifications and project schedules.
Project Plans & Specification Compliance
SYGMA prepares all required project plans to contract specification. This includes painting plans, safety plans, noise plans, environmental protection plans, lead abatement work plans, and any other submittals required by the owner or regulatory authority. Plans are written to reflect actual site conditions and project requirements — not generic templates. This capability ensures that SYGMA can self-perform the full scope of pre-construction and compliance documentation that public agency contracts require.
